If you are heading up to Sundance, be sure to visit the artist installation area in the basement of The Ray Theater and take part in @benschilibowl VR experience; a collaboration between Felix & Paul Studios and @mcgrewstudios.
This is the custom installation we built for Felix & Paul Studios‘ VR film, Traveling While Black, in the New Frontier section of the Sundance Film Festival.
Park City, Utah: January 26 – February 2, 2019.
It’s totally meta.
The installation recreates the interior of Ben’s Chili Bowl, the location where many of this VR documentary’s interviews take place. In 1958, Ben and Virginia Ali’s new restaurant, Ben’s Chili Bowl, joined the collection of safe spaces and service venues listed in The Negro Motorist Green Book, first published in 1936.
Our hearty thanks to the film’s producer @ayesha_nadarajah, plus to Bianka Pomponi and Cindy Philippe-Auguste of Felix and Paul Studios, plus Kellie Call at The Ray venue for your camaraderie, support and patronage.
McGrew Studios’ production designer Hraefn Wulfson headed up this cool design and build, assisted by Isaac Doubek, Joshua Kirkland and Jennifer McGrew.

Rocky Mountain Rebellion
McGrews is proud to sponsor Rocky Mountain Rebellion and its events.
Our shop makes the custom leather sash and patches awarded to the winners of the Rocky Mountain Person of Leather Competition. Many in the regional leather communities (as you might expect) are fashionably clad in our custom clothing, corsets and gear.
Check out the organization, register and attend its event workshops, and learn more about what a leather lifestyle actually is, what leather communities actually are, and why 50 Shades of Grey is so dead wrong in how it presents its subject matter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row] [vc_row][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”5503″ onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://lukeformayor.com/”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Wednesday, August 5, 5pm – 6:30pm
