If a single clothing item helps a contemporary wardrobe transcend generic hipster mediocrity as well as travel through time, it’s a great vest.
What a good vest does for you
It dresses up or down, it goes with jeans, t-shirts, button-down shirts and hoodies as well as your other more formal clothing.
Great vests vs. horrible vests
You’ve no doubt seen a lot of guys overdo things. Girls do it, too. You’ve seen them when they’re just too “overdressed” or “too steampunk” for ordinary, everyday contexts, and many of these guys also lack the internal confidence and composure of a true dandy or a drag star who can perform himself convincingly in outrageous, overdone outfits. What makes it worse is when the clothing is cheaply made overseas and has overdone details or the wrong details and generic, crummy fit. Even a little bit of brocade on a vest goes a long way. Puh-lease, gentlemen, you are not riverboat gamblers on a daily basis! We urge you not to compromise your masculinity with too much brocade (but if you’re super-masculine, you can damn well wear anything you please). When you wear a vest with slippery polyester lining on the back, it screams to the world that you just lazily yanked it. You stole it from one of your 1970’s uncle’s 3-piece suits. Or you picked it up at a thrift store. And either way, you’re trying to pass it off as steampunk or at the very least, as cool. Don’t go there. If it’s a crummy vest, just go without it.

Our vests are substantial pieces, and we make them from these kinds of great, substantial fabrics, cool buckles, hardware and other findings. We will steer clear of putting any ‘slippery polyester lining fabric’ on the back (unless you really want us to and you hold a gun to my head).
