If I’m the one shooting for you, we need to talk in advance about gear we need to assemble, pack and bring for your shoot day, depending on the type/style of video you want:


GREEN SCREEN	If you want to appear in a fantasy or digital landscape, or be cloned, we need to bring the screen and film YOU in front of it.	$150.00
MINI GRIP PACK	If we’re filming at night and/or we know you want certain effects and the natural light needs help. Includes auxiliary lighting, strobes, gels, reflector disks, extra production assistants and lighting crew, etc.	$960.00
FULL GRIP TRUCK	For larger areas and situations needing more light, such as larger spaces, bigger crowds, etc.	$1,800.00
GENERATOR(s)	If we’re shooting with the grip pack in a remote location or in the dark with no electricity, we need to bring the generator.	$200.00
GAS FOR GENERATOR(s)	If we’re using one generator at your shoot, we’ll typically use 20 or so gallons of gas in an 8 hour night shoot.	varies
5K DRONE	If you want your cinemaphotography to fly in, out, or around you when we capture your rapture, we can bring our licensed drone that has a professional 5k camera. Limitations vary by area, but we can fly up to 400 feet above your location in the city! Take a look at these descriptions for city use as well as for drone fees and usage in state parks to decide. Also, see these generally prohibited uses of drones. We don’t want to get busted for harassing any livestock or wild animal herds:)	$690.00
TRAVEL & GAS	ea 50 miles or more from downtown Salt Lake City to film at your location.	$40.00
BOOMIN’ CD OR MP3 PLAYER	To play your music track while you lip synch, dance, etc. Otherwise, bring your own player plus a friend to cue up your music.	$100.00
HAIR/MAKEUP ARTIST (HMUA)	Some super talented ones in our network. Let us help find the right artist for the look you crave. It’s helpful for us to go over your visual references and mood boards together first. We have prosthetic artists, body painters and wig makers in our network, too! Start collecting those images to show us. $400 for up to 3 performers, up to an 8 hour day.	$400.00
COSTUMES, SETS & PROPS	We need to chat about these well in advance of your shoot. They take pre-production time and budget to round up, rent or build. Get your own wardrobe and makeup ready- or, if you can’t locate something that you definitely want, send us your ideas and visual references. If we can’t find it, we can build it!	Pricing varies

ABOUT ME – ROBERT!

Hi, I’m Robert and I’ve worked in multimedia and programming for more than three decades. I’m usually one of the most low-key peeps at McGrew Studios, but this page describes what I can make for you! More about me, my specialties and my usual vfx rates here.

I worked at the Salt Lake Tribune for more than 20 years as a multimedia developer, photographer, videographer and journalist. For fun, I’ve made hundreds of crazy videos and games, mostly to amuse myself and my bandmates. I’ll make vids for you, too, if we’re a good fit. My sample videos show a big range of what’s possible with editing, VFX and animations. As you can see, I love copyright-free archival footage. It makes me laugh and I use it a lot!

I spend a lot of my time working as a programmer and web developer, and on films when friends and colleagues persuade me. I compose and edit music plus I play all kinds of instruments. When you see someone drumming in these vids, that’s me!
